Ali Kerim
Ali Kerim – Poet, translator and since 1954 member of Azerbaijan Writers Union.

Ali Kerim(Əli Kərim) (18 March 1931 (Goychay) – 30 June 1969 (Baku)) was an Azerbaijanian poet, translator and writer. His father Pasha Karimov was worker in Goychay. In 1948 he access to Baku State University faculty of philology, but the lack of dormitories for life. For this reason, he enrolled at the faculty of drama in Theatre Institute. From third course he continued his education at Moscow Institute of World Literature named M.Gorki. In 1955 he graduated university with honors diploma. After returning to Baku he worked head of the department of poetry in the magazine of "Azerbaijan". First poem of poet is "Təzə Müəllim" ("New Teacher") was published in the newspaper of "Azərbaycan Pioneri" ("Pioner of Azerbaijan") in 1948. He received an award for his epic entitled "First Symphony" (Ilk Simfoniya) at the Sixth Festival of World Youth and Students held in Moscow in 1957. His first book of "Два влюбленных" ("Two Lovers") is published in Moscow in russian language in connection with the decade of Azerbaijani literature in 1958. Many works was published after death of poet. Ali Karim died in Baku on 30 June 1969, was buried in Goychay. In the place which poet buried was built park named Ali Kerim. In Sumqayit has been operating poetry club named Ali Kerim. There are streets in Baku, Sabirabad, Goychay named Ali Kerim. Every year Azerbaijani Writers Union gives reward named Ali Kerim for the best poetic work. The amount of the award in 2000AZN. Poet Ali Karim has three sons. Elder son of poet is a doctor of philology science, famous scientist, dosent Pasha Kerimov. Other son of poet is the world famous mathematician, professor, doctor of a physico-mathematical sciences Azer Kerimov. Little son of poet was famous economist in Azerbaijan Orxan Kerimov which dead in 20 July 2015. His wife Elza Kerimova and sons have published many books and articles and translations of the poet.
